The Next Big Traffic Rush - 2010 and Beyond

In today’s blog post, I am going to discuss the current online advertising movements and how you should position yourself in order to reap the best benefit in 2010.

But before I get into that, I will like to thank everyone who responded to my last post via email. Your replies and comments have given me the extra motivation to continue providing as much good content as I can.

So again, thanks from the bottom of my heart.

Now as I mentioned in the last email and blog post, there is a lot of movement going on right now in the online advertising sphere. And this movement is really happening on multiple fronts, which will make 2010 an interesting year for us internet/affiliate marketers.

For example, as we mentioned in the first email, a lot of offline companies are flocking over to paid online media sources due to the continual fall in print media subscriptions like newspapers and magazines.

The newspaper industry is getting hit big time and companies are not getting the same brand exposure that they used to get when submitting a major ad to print media.

As a matter of fact, you can do a search for the term ‘newspapers’ in google trends and you will see a gradual decline in demand for newspapers over the past few years.

Since the demand for newspapers is steadily falling, their market reach is not as great as it used to be. In other words, the number of eyeballs looking at newspapers and magazine ads are falling every month.

In order for these companies to keep their brand in front of their target audience, they are venturing into paid forms of online media advertising.

Which is a good move, because if you analyze the keyword trend for the term ‘online media’ in google trends, you will see that the demand has been gradually increasing for the past two years.

Companies hire market research teams to analyze this type of market data. And right now, there is a very obvious shift taking place.

So what you are seeing now, and what you will see more of in the years to come, is a media buying shift where a large majority of companies will focus more of their revenue on internet advertising.

Which is going to toughen the landscape for most of us affiliate marketers.

Why?

Well, I am about to explain why in a little bit.

But let’s move on to our second situation.

As many of us heard by now, Google recently banned 10,000’s of adwords advertisers for life with no real explanation of why they were banned.

Because of this recent banning, many advertisers who put all of their traffic eggs into Google’s basket are panicking right now because their entire revenue was based on the traffic that they purchased via Google adwords.

And if you study market movements, there are two types of emotions that can completely change the direction of any market or industry.

These two emotions are:

1. Fear(Panic)
2. Greed

Right now, many adwords advertisers are in panic mode. And some even fear losing their entire business right now.

And because of them being kicked out of Google

…and because of them fearing the loss of their business…

These very same advertisers are going to start flooding the alternative traffic sources like crazy.

Now for those who may not know, let me list some of these alternative traffic strategies so that you can understand what I am talking about.

Alternative Traffic Models:
============================

1. PPV
2. In-Line Text Advertising
3. Pop Ups/Pop Unders
4. Media Buys
5. Social Media
6. MSN Adcenter
7. Yahoo Search/AdReady
8. Other 2nd Tier PPC Search Engines

The list above represent some of the more popular forms of paid online traffic.

But as we mentioned, we are about to see the next ‘Gold Rush’. Tens of thousands of advertisers who were spending fortunes on adwords, are now migrating over to these other traffic sources.

And they are moving over at rapid speed!

Now let us put on our business and economics hat for a little bit.

The paid online media landscape, in a nutshell, is a marketplace where we as advertisers compete for as much high quality traffic as we can get.

Because it is a marketplace, we have to look at everything from a market’s perspective.

Now since this is a marketplace, we have to understand the principles of competition and supply and demand.

If we continue to have an ongoing rush of businesses and advertisers towards a particular traffic source, it is going to create intense competition in the marketplace, thus causing the cost of advertising to go up.

Why is it going to go up?

Well, just think about it. Most of these companies, as well as banned adwords users, are eager and desperate for quality traffic. The demand for traffic is extremely high right now.

Now there is something that is called the Supply and Demand relationship. Whenever the demand for a product is high, and the supply(quantity) of that same product doesn’t change, it is going to cause the price of the product to rise.

In our case, the product that we all want is traffic. And the overall majority of advertising networks have a LIMITED supply of TARGETED traffic that they can send you.

For example, you can go to many of the popular ad networks websites, and see how many impressions they are commanding a day.

Resource 1: Adbrite => 214 million impressions per day on 113,478 sites

Resource 2: Media Traffic(PPV) => 15+ million users

I decided to list the two resources above to reveal to you that there is a limit to the amount of traffic that is available from most ad networks.

And if you consider targeted traffic, the number of impressions and possible visitors drops down significantly for each of these ad networks

So we are NOT dealing with an infinite supply of traffic like some marketers will have you believe.

And since the demand for these forms of traffic is always increasing, eventually the price to compete for this very same traffic will go up as well.

And to be truthful, I have already seen the affects of increased market competition and demand with PPV advertising.

I have been familiar with PPV advertising for well over a year and a half and just this year, I’ve noticed huge changes in the bidding price of certain campaigns. For certain campaigns, I can not buy PPV traffic as cheap as I use to due to the flood of new advertisers coming into the network.

And when this happens, it can really tear into your profits.

The Good News And Bad News
===========================

Now there is good news and bad news to all of this.

Let’s begin with the good news.

Now if you were not banned from adwords, then you should rejoice a little. Because of the recent bannings, many advertisers who were not even banned from Google decided to leave Google altogether.

They are sick and tired of the Google shenanigans.

So we are seeing a massive exodus from Google now.

This exodus does nothing but free up the marketplace for those advertisers who were not banned yet.
(Noticed I said yet..because you never know with Google..lol)

So for the next few months, we should be searching for opportunities to get dirt cheap traffic from Google. A lot of marketers have left the Google marketplace. So it’s time to spot the non-competitive segments of this marketplace and milk it for all it’s worth until Google tells you to stop.

Or….

You can take the more conservative approach to discover why most of these accounts were permanently banned from Google. Then, rework your business model so that you comply with all the policies and requirements Google may layout so that your account doesn’t get suspended or banned.

Whatever you choose to do, the key is to be patient.

Don’t give up on Google yet.

With so many advertisers banned, and so many leaving adwords by choice, there will probably be plenty of
opportunities for you to come in and make some great money from adwords.

So continue to play with Google, while experimenting with other sources of paid traffic at the same time.

Which now leads me to the bad news.

The competition is about to get extremely intense with other advertising forms like PPV and media buying.

So in order to really exploit this traffic to the fullest, you have to really think outside the box and do intense market brainstorming and research in order to get in front of the right audience.

For example, promoting a set of golf clubs on a travel/vacation website because you know that a good number of people who travel love to play golf as well. This can go vice versa. You can promote a travel resort on a golf site.

But the key to being successful is to really understand your audience and study it like crazy!

That way, you’ll be able to get in front of viewers that your competition wouldn’t even consider getting in front of.

I am going to create a short video for you on what I call the traffic pyramid within the next few days. It will give you a much better understanding of this whole frame of thinking.
——————
Cont…..

Also, it will require better marketing on your part in order to succeed with these other traffic sources. You will need to have very unique creatives (ads) in order for your message to stick out.

Your marketing will have to carry some uniqueness and flavor. It can’t be ordinary and bland!

But what this whole migration will do is help us all step up our game as affiliate marketers.

The same thing happened with Google adwords a few years ago. In the very beginnings of google adwords, it was easy to make tons of commissions from different ads via direct linking. Those were the good ole days of adwords marketing!

But because of the massive influx of advertisers into adwords, it changed the marketplace, causing many of us to step our game up when it came to selling products and services.

So you should never really look at competition as a bad thing. Competition is designed to make us all better. It is there so that we can all improve on our area of specialty.

And in the end, we will all be much better marketers.

So that is all I am going to write for now. I have plenty of more stuff I am going to share with you concerning this topic in the weeks to come.

Just stay tuned to my blog or get on my email list if you haven’t.

As for now, if you want to chat with me personally about some of this info, please get on my email list and contact me with your name and phone number.

I Need To Get This Off My Chest

As mentioned in my last email, the purpose of this email is to give you some of my thoughts concerning affiliate marketing, the IM industry, and what you should be doing now in order to see some consistent business growth.

Right now, we are navigating through a dreary wilderness when it comes to affiliate marketing and adwords. I have so much to say about this, and I will definitely get to it in part 2 of this message.

But there are quite a number of things that I need to get off of my chest first before I go into all of the affiliate marketing stuff.

Now what I am about to say may upset alot of marketers in the IM space.  But it is the truth…and the truth needs to be told.

What I am about to say is not a direct attack against any “Guru” marketer. I truly respect a good number of these marketers and I’ve learned quite a bit from some of them.

But as I addressed before in a previous email, most of these marketers have fallen into sin…the sin of harlotry.

…Product Harlotry…

Every single day, I am receiving pitch after pitch of various products that are really just rehashes of information that is available for free online.

As a matter of fact, a lot of the info contained in these IM products is not as good as the info you can freely grab from a number of blogs out there.

Check this out….

My great successes online was not due to me applying info that I received from the products that I bought.
My biggest achievements as an affiliate marketer came from me applying information that I freely received from reputable super affiliate blogs and forums.

This should tell you that you DO NOT need to buy a single IM product in order to be successful.

Did you hear that?

You really do not have to buy any products online and still have the capability of making ALOT of money as an internet/affiliate marketer.

And when I say a lot of money….I mean ALOT!

I actually heard of someone who never bought one single IM product, but generated over 1 million dollars in revenue as an affiliate during the first half of 2009.

All this person did was just apply the tips and strategies that he learned from various blogs and forums(NOT Warriors), and he is now doing extremely well.

But the key thing to note is that he did not buy one single IM product, and he makes more money now then a majority of the IM Gurus!

Now the reason why I decided to write about this is because I heard alot of complaints from my subscribers.

A lot of my subscribers have been complaining about the current trend that is taking place with marketers pitching new products almost everyday.

I actually talk on the phone with some of my subscribers and some of them confessed to me that they’ve spent $10,000’s this year on IM products.

This is not good…especially if you haven’t generated $1 dollar in profit online.

And what makes it so bad, is that your “Guru Marketers” are killing the responsiveness of the market when they choose to only send out product pitches.

Right now, alot of subscribers do not even open
up emails during major product launches. They
assume that the recent flood of emails to
their inbox is likely a pitch for the same
product.

So they avoid the burden of reading all of their
emails by just deleting most of them.

This is why many marketers are considering
this the worst launch climate ever…it is
because they aren’t receiving huge responses
from their email promos.

So what happens?

As a result, many of your marketers need to
push products like crazy in order to make
payroll, and even pay off their mortgage.

But what most of them do not realize, is that
they are the blame for this! They sucked the
life out of the IM market by not providing
the help and value that most of their subscribers
are desperate for.

And as a result, both parties are affected, the
guru and the subscriber. The guru isn’t making
enough money from his product endorsements, and
the subscriber ends up pouring tons of money
down the drain before they end up saying enough
is enough.
—————

So if you have fell into this product buying
trap, then what should you do?

Well, for one, DO NOT buy another product.

Heck, most of the content from these products
are freely available online…so you won’t
miss much anyways if you don’t buy it.

If you have to unsubscribe from a few lists,
then by all means do so.

If your self control is weak when it comes to
buying products, then do yourself a favor and
click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom
of those product pitch emails.

But please use discretion because even some
of the most helpful affiliate marketers endorse
a product every once in awhile.

The key thing you need to ask yourself is….

“Am I getting any value from being subscribed
to this list?”

“Do I get helpful tips and videos from time
to time?”

“Does the list owner have a genuine concern
to help me, or are they always trying to get
into my pocket?”

Ask yourself these questions before unsubscribing
from a list.

Doing this exercise will help you weed out the
distractions, while at the same time clear up
your email inbox.

You won’t get as many emails and because of this,
you will improve your productivity, which is a
core value when it comes to building up your
internet business.

The Core Value of Productivity
==============================

The more productive you are, the more momentum
that you will have.

We have so many distractions in our daily life
that are momentum killers.

In this social media age, you have facebook,
twitter and a number of web 2.0 tools that can
actually destroy your productivity and kill your
momentum.

Here are some momentum killers that you need to
get under control ASAP:

1. Email

Question: What if the post office delivered mail
the way most of us check email?

(I found a blog post that I want to send to you
that talks about this.)

2. Facebook

Facebook has become one of the leading distractions
now based on a number of polls and surveys.

3. Twitter

4. Forums

Of course, there are some forums that you NEED to get
involved in if you are an affiliate marketer. But most
of them are huge momentum killers.

So start ridding yourself of these momentum killers now.

Don’t let these distractions kill your goals and dreams.

Rule over them…don’t let them rule over you!

I have seen so many marketers give up due to being
distracted and not staying focus. And it really does
sadden me because I see so much opportunity in this
affiliate business, yet so few people realize it.

But focus more of your time on high priority tasks.
For you that will mean any task that can help you put more
money in your bank account. That can be:

A. Building more traffic
B. Buying and testing more traffic sources
C. Tweaking your landing page/improving conversions
D. Creating your own product
E. Contacting JV partners
F. Building up your affiliate program

…the list can go on and on.

The key is to focus most of your time and energy on
tasks that bring good ROI.

I can’t get into this right now. Maybe I can in another
email or blog post.

But once you discipline yourself to stay focus and
become more productive, your business can definitely
see a nice level of growth within 3 to 6 months.

Online Advertising: The Future of It

Right now, there is a lot of movement going on in the
online advertisement sphere. There is so much movement
going on that you can actually foretell what may
happen in 2010 when it comes to online advertising.

With the fall in newspaper sales, more and more offline
businesses and companies are venturing into advertising
online. And a lot of them have the budget to really buy
a ton of traffic online…in other words, millions of
visitors a month.

So with the migration of a lot of companies toward
online media sources, I believe that you are about
to see quite a number of changes take place within
the media buying and traffic buying landscape.

For example, many of us have heard of the recent banning
of Google adwords accounts that occured about 10 days ago.
Accounts across google have been banned for life with
no legitimate reason but the same excuse of poor landing
pages and low quality scores.

But based on this recent happening, can you guys predict
what is about to happen?

Well, it’s going to be like the next gold rush! Many
of these advertisers that were banned from Google
are going to rush and flood towards alternative traffic
sources.

This can be a good and bad thing for you. But if you
understand certain economic principles like supply and
demand, it can be a great thing for you.

In tomorrow’s email, I will explain all of this in more
detail.

Just look out for my email.

Subject:
The Next Big “Traffic” Rush - 2010 and Beyond

In that email, I will describe in more detail what is
about to take place and how you can use this info to
take advantage of the movements in the online advertising
industry.

Again, look out for that next email.

I am confident that you will receive some great advice
from it.

It’s been awhile since I posted on this blog, so I decided to give you guys a few tips that will help you get some more traffic on Bing. I compiled these factors for ranking high on Bing 3 weeks ago, but recently I drew some major conclusions about Bing that will be pretty eye opening to you if you want easy Bing rankings.

My twin brother (Marvin) actually compiled the presentation for me after I gave him my Bing notes. Any ways, the content from the video is still very good. You can watch the video below and if you have any questions, comments, or advice, please feel free to post your comment and let me know.

CPM Banner Advertising Strategies For 4 Cent Clicks

Now when it comes to generating targeted traffic, most people hear about pay per click marketing on google adwords and yahoo search. But rarrely do you hear of any good information on banner advertising. The reason why you do not hear anything about banner advertising is because most people do not even know how to even get good banner advertising without placing huge insertion orders of $5,000 and more. This is why people shy away from banner advertising….because the cost of entry for most banner ad networks are sky high. Plus, there is no guarantee that you will earn any ROI with your cpm banner advertising campaign. This is one of the major reasons why I am writing this blog post. I want to give you another approach towards looking at cpm banner advertising that most marketers do not even consider.

So, what is my approach to banner advertising? Well, let me just state that when ever I encounter a huge mountain like ad cost, I try my best to work around it. So one thing that I focused on for months was to build my own networks of websites and blogs that I can market on for my particular niche. This is an easy way to get past the large insertion order barrier for most banner ad campaigns. So I went to a bunch of blog directories, and located as many blogs as I can that offer banner advertising. The only requirement was for the blog to have a decent amount of portal traffic. When I speak of portal traffic, I am referring to the number of potential impressions that I can get. There are a number of tools that can help you estimate this. One free tool is Alexa, but please note, that Alexa is kind of off with their traffic data. So your data for your cpm banner advertising campaign may be a little off if you go solely on Alexa traffic data.

But what I would do, is estimate how much CPM, or cost per impression, I would be spending for that particular website. So if a website is charging me $50 to place a monthly ad, and they claim to have 11,000 page views a month, then you can just do some simple math by dividing the page views into the monthly ad cost ($50/11,000). Therefore, we can estimate that our CPM is .0045 cents. Next, we have to figure out how much a thousand impressions may cost.  So we take our cost per single impression, and multiply that with 1,000.  So 1,000 impressions, for our example, will cost us $4.54 in ad spend.

Now if you want more info, on how to really do CPM banner advertising, then you should check out my Lifetime Group Coaching Offer where I give you the specefic website that I have used to place my banner ads on, and get thousands of cheap clicks for less than 4 cents a click.

Free Web Site Visibility In The Web 2.0 World

I decided to write a short article on getting web site visibility because I know that receiving enough high quality web traffic to your website is a problem for most online marketers. So I decided to let you understand how I feel about this topic. For one, let me just destroy a myth that a lot of uninformed marketers will tell you. Most people will tell you that in order to increase your web site visibility, all you have to do is change a few meta tags and increase the keyword density for your website. This info is so archaic that I often laugh when I read articles that explain this.

What you must realize right now, is that we are in a web 2.0 age, where the quality of a piece of content determines how much exposure or visibility that content will get. Now when I am speaking of content, I am referring to text, audio, and even video content. The better your content, the more traffic you will get because of the way that most web 2.0 sites operate. In order to understand how this works, you must understand what web 2.0 really means. In simpler terms, web 2.0 is when people across the internet interact and socialize in order to foster a community.

When people within the community, start talking about, recommending, and commenting on your piece of article or content from your website, then that will significantly increase the exposure of your website within that web 2.0 community. The more people that talk about your content, the more traffic that you can get. So in some way, there is a viral aspect to it.  The key is to just create the most appealing, and informative content on your web site as you can. Once you do this, just bookmark or publish your content in various web 2.0 properties in order to get the community to vote on it and pass it along.

So do you want to know what web 2.0 property that I use in order to increase my web site visibility tremendously? Well, the web 2.0 property that I love using is Youtube. In order to get a lot of exposure from youtube, you must try to submit appealing or informative videos to their web site. As people vote and comment on your video, it increases the exposure of that video within youtube. You can then see yourself getting thousands of visitors from that one single video if you take the time to create the highest quality of web video content.

But if you want more step by step videos on how to get a lot of exposure for your business via the internet, then watch 2+ hours of FREE Internet Marketing Videos that will reveal exactly how to send huge amounts of targeted traffic to your website and internet business.

Google Adwords Geotargeting - 2 Methods

If you are an offline business, or some company that provides a service in your local area, then you should definitely try to learn how to do google adwords geotargeting for your business. So do you see how beneficial this is? If you are a small business that provides a service, you can display targeted ads to your target prospect and save a lot of money on advertising.
