CPM Banner Advertising Strategies For 4 Cent Clicks

Now when it comes to generating targeted traffic, most people hear about pay per click marketing on google adwords and yahoo search. But rarrely do you hear of any good information on banner advertising. The reason why you do not hear anything about banner advertising is because most people do not even know how to even get good banner advertising without placing huge insertion orders of $5,000 and more. This is why people shy away from banner advertising….because the cost of entry for most banner ad networks are sky high. Plus, there is no guarantee that you will earn any ROI with your cpm banner advertising campaign. This is one of the major reasons why I am writing this blog post. I want to give you another approach towards looking at cpm banner advertising that most marketers do not even consider.

So, what is my approach to banner advertising? Well, let me just state that when ever I encounter a huge mountain like ad cost, I try my best to work around it. So one thing that I focused on for months was to build my own networks of websites and blogs that I can market on for my particular niche. This is an easy way to get past the large insertion order barrier for most banner ad campaigns. So I went to a bunch of blog directories, and located as many blogs as I can that offer banner advertising. The only requirement was for the blog to have a decent amount of portal traffic. When I speak of portal traffic, I am referring to the number of potential impressions that I can get. There are a number of tools that can help you estimate this. One free tool is Alexa, but please note, that Alexa is kind of off with their traffic data. So your data for your cpm banner advertising campaign may be a little off if you go solely on Alexa traffic data.

But what I would do, is estimate how much CPM, or cost per impression, I would be spending for that particular website. So if a website is charging me $50 to place a monthly ad, and they claim to have 11,000 page views a month, then you can just do some simple math by dividing the page views into the monthly ad cost ($50/11,000). Therefore, we can estimate that our CPM is .0045 cents. Next, we have to figure out how much a thousand impressions may cost.  So we take our cost per single impression, and multiply that with 1,000.  So 1,000 impressions, for our example, will cost us $4.54 in ad spend.
