Testing Out Your PPC Adwords Marketing Campaign Is Imperative
I’ve noticed a tragic incident that is taking place in the lives of many affiliate marketers that desire to build an internet business solely on pay per click advertising. Now I do not have anything against anyone who just wants to make their living via Google Adwords. There are a lot of people that are doing this and they are literally making a killing online…up into the 6 figures every single month!
But the reason why I am writing this is to address a mistake that I believe a lot of newbie affiliate marketers are making when it comes to pay per click marketing. The mistake has everything to do with what I call the “Haste Syndrome”.
A lot of marketers want to hurry up and launch a big ppc campaign for their projects with the hope that they will get a lot of traffic that will instantly convert into sales. But many affiliates fail to realize that a large majority of the affiliate products floating around in cyberspace do not convert well! You can send 500 targeted visitors to a specific page and not make any sales at all! That is how bad it is now. You can lose thousands of dollars very quickly if you take this hasty approach to marketing.
That is why you need to take a more strategic approach to your ppc marketing. Instead of jumping in and launching a huge pay per click adwords campaign that took you over 3 hours to setup, you should spend the first few weeks testing the product, as well as the market, to see if this is a profitable project that you can eventually scale up.
You should use the first month strictly as a testing period to see if this product and market is a winner. During this time, you’ll be testing your ad copy, tweaking your bidding, as well as testing landing page elements. You want to be 100% positive that this campaign is capable of being a success if you choose to scale it up. That is why you use this first month as a time of testing to see what works and what doesn’t work.
In the first couple of days of launching your initial test campaign, you want to only test one ad and a handful of keywords. Just choose the most relevant keywords, or the keywords that more closely relates to the product that you are selling. If after 200 clicks, you haven’t generated one single sale, then just throw this ppc campaign in the garbage and launch a brand new campaign in a different target market. It is obvious that the target market that you tested doesn’t have any hungry buyers…or maybe the offer just wasn’t good enough. Well, you can always select another offer within that target market to test.
The main point I want to bring across is to always test your market and your offers to see what works before you try to setup a massive advertising campaign for it. The key is to first go little…and then go big once you know that you can win!
